Alice Sweet Alice are mavericks in the Alt Rock music world, defying any easy pigeonhole. In fact, ASA invented one word to describe their unique- and ever-evolving sound: “Electropostpunkadelic”. As one Kansas City reviewer described Alice Sweet Alice's music: "Take the turbulent undercurrent of Joy Division, add edgy guitar-synth crunch and hooks ala Garbage, drop in the haunting post-punk of Siouxsie Sioux and the Banshees, a dash of Love and Rockets psychedelics, and polish the whole mix with angst-meets-curious inclinations inspired by The Cure's rhythmic urges. Something like that with a twist.” A UK review for ASA's most recent album “MANDALA”, stated: “It's hard to say what you notice first about Alice Sweet Alice, but it's probably fair to say that Ali Kat's vocals come fairly close to the top of the list. Tuneful and soulful, she is (thankfully) not given to the histrionics found on your average Evanescence album, instead opting for a tuneful drawl in the vein of The Kills or the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, albeit with a significantly more interesting musical backdrop.”

Despite being 4 years old, and having 2 top selling full-length albums and one live album under their belt, Alice Sweet Alice remains relatively unknown on their home turf. However, on the 17th of October 2011, Alice 102 in Kansas City, a commercial radio station, placed Alice Sweet Alice's first single from their new album MANDALA entitled “Full Circle” in light rotation. Also, in December 2011, ASA was chosen to work with Gotham Music Placement in Santa Monica, CA and is currently working with them on multimedia, film and TV placements. ASA has had some success overseas, where via their eastern European distributor “AMAdea Records”, Alice Sweet Alice has consistently remained at the top selling status with their first two albums.

JANUARY 2012—Alice Sweet Alice embarks on their first US Tour entitled “Singularity” and plays their first show on the 24th of March at THE GRANADA in Lawrence, KS. Other cities ASA will visit are New Orleans, Memphis, Nashville, Little Rock, Atlanta, Louisville, Omaha, Lincoln, Denver and of course their hometown of Kansas City. As of now, the tour is still being assembled, but it promises to be a fantastic adventure for the band and fans alike. More cities and dates will be posted as they become available on the band’s main website: www.alicesweetalice.com.

THE MYTH

Emerging from the dark recesses of a deranged mind, Alice Sweet Alice originally fantasized about being a super group from native Sweden, fortunately for them, they hail from the United States.  If you've ever wondered who that dark figure was lurking in the alley, it was none other than singer / bassist Scott Martinez, or otherwise known as "The Lurker" or "Pelon" by his Swedish name.  Sweden is famous for its underground culture and night life spawning a myriad of sub-culture-esque socialites wherein many have claimed to have spotted the ever elusive singer / pianist Ali Kat, otherwise known as "Freda" to the natives in Sweden.  Growing up as a lad, drummer Billy Brown, better known as "Bjorn" to those in Sweden, had always fantasized playing in the band ABBA, but soon realized it would prove too difficult to drum while wearing spandex.  Guitarist Ron Bales, also known to the Swedes as "Sven", wonders around aimlessly repeating, 'Sven, my name is Sven', and was last seen by locals still trying to remember if his name is Sven. So next time you see Alice Sweet Alice, you just might know them by name. Pelon, Freda, Bjorn & Sven.
